HIV Testing Toolkit

In 2015, Santa Rosa Community Health implemented universal/opt-out HIV testing at nine diverse clinic sites with funding from the California Department of Public Health’s Office of AIDS. In two years, we nearly doubled the percentage of patients tested, improving from 26% to 51%. This toolkit contains the lessons we learned along the way and provides resources for anyone else seeking to implement a similar program.

Toolkit Contents

We approached the project by addressing both the required system changes and the need for staff knowledge and cultural shifts. This diagram represents our approach and serves as the Table of Contents for this toolkit.
